Listening to the Body: Yoga, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion
Limited Capacity filling up

Constant multi-sensory overload and the pressure to produce can add chronic stress, even trauma, to everyday life. We suffer from this form of daily trauma, and yet often feel compelled to push ourselves harder. Often, our body pays the price as much as our mind and emotions. In this workshop, we'll briefly explore the compelling science behind self-compassion, and why it's more effective than self-esteem. Drawing upon the traditions of yoga, mindfulness, and contemplative studies, we'll experience several practical, body-based methods of working with self-compassion that can be integrated into any yoga class or somatic meditation practice.

Discussion and meditation with light asana. Please bring: a bolster or extra blanket, or the equivalent.

Prana in the Belly: Revitalizing our Enteric Nervous System
Limited Capacity seats available

We now know that our gut, far from being a primal mechanism, is highly intelligent, acts independently of the brain, and regulates immunity and emotional health. In this workshop, we’ll explore the vast influence of the enteric nervous system on health and well-being, including its interaction with many inner systems that promote mind-body integration. We'll re-envision our current concept of what makes a resilient core body (hint: it’s not all about strength), and experience practices that release physical and emotional tension and stagnation in the abdominal area, increase "prana in the belly," promote physical and emotional digestion, improve mind-body awareness, and enhance emotional immunity. Yoga in the 21st Century: Purpose, Participation, and Activating Change from the Inside Out

Manifesting peace requires action and a willingness to replicate all that we learn on the mat—including strength, grounding, flexibility—so as to create a world that is free, fair, equal and peace-filled for ALL. Although it can be challenging to maintain a conscious and holistic perspective in a world that often seems to support violence over peace and corruption over truth, WE must do all that we can to put our practice into action in all that we say, do, and create. We can’t necessarily change the world around us, but we can change the ways in which we engage and participate in this world. This is conscious engagement. This is empowered activation. And if we can commit to these actions in our own life, then this is the way we revolutionize the world! Join Seane for this special and thought-provoking intermediate level class.

Wake up Your Heart, Throat and Palate: The Finishing Postures
Limited Capacity seats available

No matter how rigorous or relaxed your asana practice is, without a solid, well balanced finishing sequence, you’re missing out because your asana does not directly serve meditation and pranayama practice. In this class we will explore the subtle internal forms of classic finishing postures, in particular within the heart, throat and palate, that open deep sensation patterns to naturally induce a meditative state.  For Intermediate and Advanced students.
