Listening to the Body: Yoga, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion
Limited Capacity filling up

Constant multi-sensory overload and the pressure to produce can add chronic stress, even trauma, to everyday life. We suffer from this form of daily trauma, and yet often feel compelled to push ourselves harder. Often, our body pays the price as much as our mind and emotions. In this workshop, we'll briefly explore the compelling science behind self-compassion, and why it's more effective than self-esteem. Drawing upon the traditions of yoga, mindfulness, and contemplative studies, we'll experience several practical, body-based methods of working with self-compassion that can be integrated into any yoga class or somatic meditation practice.

Discussion and meditation with light asana. Please bring: a bolster or extra blanket, or the equivalent.

Limited Capacity seats available

According to the ancient teachings of Tantra, the abdominal center is the seat of your power and healing potential. In this experience-based class, you will be guided through a dynamic practice in order to access potency, vitality and the source of nurturance. Rooted in principles that are outlined in traditional hatha yoga texts, the practice will illuminate the essential teaching on how to build and contain vital force at the navel center. Some key theory will shed light on this approach to practice and will lead into a deepening practice.

Yoga Nidra is an opportunity to recharge and rejuvenate by moving away from body consciousness so as to experience a serene encounter with reality and cultivate inner peace. Regular practice will allow you to tap into the boundless joy that is already within. This session also provides a unique opportunity to learn about the path of yoga and some of its key aspects directly from living yoga master Sri Dharma Mittra. In combination with Yoga Nidra, this makes for a particularly potent mix.

No special clothes, mats or other props are needed to practice.
